TWO prominent dynasties within the Indian community - the Chellarams and the Mahtanis - were linked joyously during the glittering wedding of Sunil Chellaram to Anjali Mahtani at the Hilton ballroom. While the bejewelled ladies present made a colourful spectacle in their beautiful saris, they didn't have it all their own way in the fashion stakes. Some of the younger male progeny of the two celebrating families made quite a dash in their off-white Nehru jackets. Prior to departing on honeymoon to the States, the couple - or the bride to be precise - was accorded some advice by the uncle of the groom, Udharam Chellaram, during his speech. We thought his words were worthy of a larger audience. Anjali was counselled to change her nationality according to the mood of the day. Thus becoming British during the morning and ''saying nothing while Sunil had breakfast and read the newspaper''. During the middle of the day she had to be Scandinavian, preparing a delicious lunch for him. At night, advised Udharam, she had to be French, adding ''that needs no further explanation''. All we can say is Ooo . . . la . . . la.
