HAVE you ever felt sleepy during a Chinese History lesson? Are you bored because you think events that took place before you were born have nothing to do with you? Seventeen True Light Middle School students have found a way to turn a sometimes-humdrum subject into an interesting game.
The students have won the Hong Kong Joint School Computer Exhibition's first project contest with their specially designed computer program, ''Artificial History''.
Their program can be used to turn long-winded historical lectures into entertaining cartoons.
''This activity not only deepens our knowledge of history, but also trains our ability in analysis,'' winning team leader Chow Lai-ming said.
It asks politically-minded students whether, after learning about the stupid and tyrannical behaviour of many past rulers, they still harbour ambitions to become politicians.
''Through our specially designed program, you can travel back to former China, and see the famous people in the past,'' Lai-ming said.
''Be careful because all your choices and moves can change the development of Chinese history and culture.'' Hong Kong Joint School Computer Association chairman Ho Shing-yan congratulated the winning team.
