NORWEGIAN tanker brokers have turned against electronic information giant Reuter over the company's product and pricing policy, according to a report in the international shipping weekly TradeWinds .
The newspaper said Norwegian broking companies had banded together to cancel the Reuter service, which has played a key role in the tanker broking world for a decade.
The report attributed the decision to drop the service to specific problems suffered by PF Bassoe during its move to new offices in Oslo.
The report said that in a recent meeting, Norway's leading tanker brokers decided to unite to cancel their Reuter subscriptions.
The brokers participating in the move are Fearnleys, RS Platou Shipbrokers, OJ Libaek & Partners, Lorentzen Chartering, Stemoco Shipping and PF Bassoe. The six will reportedly be joined by Stavanger Chartering, leaving only the small broker shops in Norway with Reuter subscriptions.
Reuter was reported to have wanted the broking firm buy a new, expensive hardware system to go with the subscription to its services.
