Beijing loans top US$1.6b

BEIJING has so far signed loans worth US$1.67 billion for 150 projects associated with urban construction and people's livelihood.

The loans were mainly from foreign governments, the World Bank and international financial institutions, according to municipal government official Wan Jifei.

Over the past 15 years, Beijing has used foreign loans and donations totalling $820 million from 14 countries.
