HONG KONG'S Faheem Khan is only a step away from making the main draw of the World Open for the first time after crushing Juha Raumolin of Finland in his first qualifying match in Barcelona yesterday. Faheem, ranked 26th in the world and seeded three for the qualifiers, had a bye in the first round and was hardly troubled as he cruised to a 15-7, 15-9, 15-11 win over the 1992 junior world champion. Standing in Faheem's way from a berth in the tournament proper is up-and-coming English professional Julian Wellings, who toppled Pakistan's Zubair Jahan Khan. Assistant Hong Kong national coach Tony Choi Yuk-kwan said: 'Julian is ranked 81 in the world but he showed his capability by beating Zubair in the second qualifying round. 'Faheem expects a very tough match but I'm confident he can go through.'
