LUCKLESS Chater Star is well worth following over a bit of ground in the coming weeks after his efforts in the second event last night.

The gelding was knocked from pillar to post in the straight and finished fourth all over the top of them. Given any sort of a run - and room - he might even have won the 1,650-metre event.
Chater Star appreciates rain-softened ground and we might get some of that in the coming weeks. But he will certainly be fully fit and ready to run a top race over 1,800 metres or beyond.
In what looked a rough run fourth event, Hercules finished fourth having found no room at the top of the straight. Hercules has clearly trained on and will win.
