CHINESE University students Leung Chung-kei and Chan Kai-tai have jointly produced a set of four cartoon cards distributed by the KELY support group to spread positive messages to young Hong Kong.

Leung, 25, drew the illustrations while Chan, 23, wrote the text - but they had never set eyes on each other before their interview with Campus Post.

Leung, a third-year fine arts student, is a part-time artist whose cartoons featuring Ah Sam are published regularly by a Chinese daily newspaper under the pseudonym Cho Yat.

It was this work that caught the eye of the KELY support group, which invited him to use the character for the card series they had in mind.

Chan is a fourth-year medical student who has written lyrics for Canto-pop stars such as Hacken Lee, and was roped into the project by a friend who is a KELY volunteer.

'I was given Leung's drawings by my friend and asked to come up with catchy and humorous verses, so I never really got to meet my partner until today,' Chan said.
