WE refer to the letter from Verena Cole (South China Morning Post, September 10), concerning the bus service between South Horizons and Causeway Bay.

We are pleased to inform Ms Cole that services to and from South Horizons will be improved in the very near future, when our new vehicles enter service.

These will be used to improve the frequency both of route 592 to Causeway Bay and route 590 to Central. We also have plans to introduce a new service, route 99, from South Horizons to Wan Chai, Causeway Bay and North Point which will relieve some of the existing pressure on route 592 and will provide passengers with an additional service to the eastern part of Hong Kong Island.

This will be introduced as soon as the new purpose-built bus terminus in South Horizons is opened as the existing terminal area is already at full capacity.

Our Planning Department will also, over the course of the next few weeks, be undertaking a comprehensive survey of the travel patterns of residents of the estate.

This will entail 'origin and destination' surveys of existing passengers and the distribution of questionnaires to a sample number of households in the area.
