A DETECTIVE'S ex-girlfriend who hit a man with a service pistol after a quarrel was placed on one year's probation in South Kowloon Court yesterday.
Detective Constable Fu Wing-chau, 30, was jailed for six months on September 1 after he was found guilty of wounding Yau Yiu-fai, 26, on March 6.
His girlfriend at the time of the incident, Lai Tse-kwan, 20, was convicted in August on the same count. They both denied the charge.
Taking into consideration Lai's age, Magistrate David Dufton said it was important to give her a chance of rehabilitation.
He made a distinction between the culpability of Fu, who was a serving police officer at the time, and Lai.
Lai had already spent four weeks in custody following her conviction, he added.
