THE casualty count among the Hong Kong national rugby squad continued to rise after the end of yesterday's opening round of the grading tournament. Football Club flanker Will Wild and Valley hooker Andy Fields both suffered injuries which increased the worry lines on national coach George Simpkin's brow last night. Wild was helped off the field just before half-time, the victim of concussion. 'It is really serious. Will didn't know what was happening around him. He asked me who I was,' said fellow-Hong Kong international and Football Club teammate Rick Shuttleworth, who is also on the injured list. Fields followed Wild early in the second half, with an injured left knee. 'I have torn ligaments. It needs surgery, but if I do it now, I will definitely be out of contention for the Asian tournament. I will just try to carry on and hopefully it will be okay,' said Fields. Valley lock forward Neil Alton, a Hong Kong hopeful, also limped off with an ankle injury. Simpkin's main worry will be over Wild, who will now miss three weeks of rugby.
