St Rose of Lima's School 4 Embankment Road Mongkok, Kowloon ST ROSE of Lima's School is helping students to keep pace with social changes through a school development plan and a sound foundation of moral teaching.
The girls' school is on the Government schools improvement scheme for the next academic year, and if the scheme is put through, an additional two storeys would be added to the premises.
Sister Margaret Fung Sui-fun, who has been principal for 15 years, hopes to introduce computer teaching once more classrooms are built.
The extra storeys would also allow for an expansion of the library, remedial teaching rooms, study rooms and the staff room.
To meet demand, the school has just introduced Mathematics as another choice of study, besides Biology, for Forms Six and Seven students this year. In the meantime, the commercial choice has been streamlined to make room for more academic subjects.
'We are now offering only Principles of Accounts because we feel our students tend to pursue higher studies rather than something vocational. They can easily take up training in typing and shorthand, which we have stopped teaching, outside school.' While improving students' academic choices, the school also places equal emphasis on the adage: 'Study Well, Play Well and Think Well'.
