PARTICIPATION in this year's Community Chest Dress Casual Day saw a three-fold increase on last year's inaugural event.
Although figures have not been finalised, the Chest's Winnie Sek Wai-yu said more than 1,000 organisations had been involved, compared with 350 last year.
A total of $4.5 million was generated last year - a figure that is expected to double this year. The money will go to the charity's 130 member organisations.
Many companies joined in the event without officially registering and were now beginning to send in the money they raised, Ms Sek added.
'Judging from the number of participants, I think we could say that this year's fund-raising campaign has been very successful,' she added.
Ms Sek said the Community Chest was now considering the introduction of two dress-casual days a year.
