YOU'VE seen the movie. Now buy the watch. The Flintstones are just some of the characters with international appeal who feature on Bossini's new children's watch collection. The character watches form part of just one of the stunning collections. Newly launched by Crystal Orogoli, the marketing arm of Crystal Electronics, the watches have been designed to appeal to all age groups. 'As well as the children's collection, which includes Snow White and Mickey Mouse, there are adult watches,' said Simon Leung, Crystal Electronics senior marketing manager. 'One such adult watch is the Targa-Plus, which retains classical styling while incorporating technical innovations such as a perpetual calendar and chronograph.' Keeping up with the needs of consumers is a priority of Crystal Electronics. It has two series of its own brand name watches, designed for the younger consumer. 'Younger people want something that they perceive to be different from all the rest. Things like unusual shaped watch faces and textures are the details that grab their attention,' Mr Leung said. 'Bright colours and styling that sets them apart from more traditional designs are always bound to sell well.' This has led to the newly-launched Falcon watches. Instead of a typical leather strap, the watches have a metallic inlay, or special embossing, to create a striking combination of colour and shades. 'We expect the watch to retail at under $1,000, a price that youngsters can afford,' Mr Leung said. Under the brand name of Alain Frederic, which Crystal Electronics brought on to the market last year, 10,000 timepieces a month are sold to retailers around the world. Another company to look out for is Omtis, a distributor of prestige Swiss brand watches, including Olma. The latest collection of Olma timepieces falls into the medium price range.
