Instead of last year's qualification system - where the top teams from each of the three groups on the first day entered the Cup semi-finals and the fourth team was decided in a Cup eliminator group - the Cup finalists will be decided after two round-robin competitions.

According to the new format, the top two teams from each of the preliminary groups (totalling six) will advance to stage two - which will comprise of two groups, the Bradman group and the Sobers group.

The two highest seeds, from the six teams, will head the Bradman and Sobers groups. The other four teams will be drawn into these groups which will play another round-robin.

The winners of the Bradman and Sobers groups will enter the Cup final. The second-placed teams will meet in the Plate, while the Bowl will be decided from the losers on the first day.

'The new format will see every match on the second day being a meaningful match,' Brian Catton, executive director of Cricket World International, said.

In another change from last year, all the nine teams have been seeded and were 'drawn' into groups - on the decision made by the tournament's policy committee.
