Danish line launches express run

MAERSK Line of Denmark has launched a weekly express service between the ports of Tianjin (Xingang), Dalian, Yokohama, Kobe, and Busan.

Maersk will use two dedicated feeder vessels in the range of 350 to 400 TEUs (20-foot equivalent units).

The ships will depart Xingang every Thursday and Dalian every Saturday on a fixed weekly schedule.

The maiden voyage was from Xingang last Thursday.

Lars Reno Jakobsen, the managing director of Maersk (China) Shipping Co, said the schedule was designed to ensure smooth connection to Maersk's main haul services at its own terminals in Yokohama and Kobe which would be attractive for exporters and importers in northern China.

With the addition of Tianjin and Dalian, Maersk China can now offer its own feeder services from eight Chinese ports, in addition to its direct services between Yantian and the United States and Europe.
