WITH regard to your article 'Expat students more likely to try drugs' (South China Morning Post, September 5).
Chinese students and expatriate students live very different lives. However, no matter where you are from, drugs are always easily available.
It is important to learn from the survey that more needs to be done to prevent drugs from taking over young people's lives.
For expatriates, living in a country that is different and new can be very frightening.
Turning to drugs may be a way for these expatriates to finally feel good about living in an unfamiliar territory.
It is true that many expatriates have the money and opportunity, perhaps more than the Chinese, and maybe they resent the responsibility that goes along with having the money and opportunity.
