ONE of this town's hardy perennials, Ray Cordeiro, is contemplating the passing of the years with a spectacular birthday bash.
Uncle Ray, who has been a fixture at RTHK since long before records were even kept, will be celebrating his biblical three score years and 10 in December.
We hear that RTHK is planning the mother-of-all-parties to mark the event - if only they can find a venue.
Cordeiro, who describes himself as the oldest disc jockey in the business, said: 'RTHK have checked out 26 places but since it is Christmas everywhere is fully booked.' Now here's one that is made for the Hong Kong Stadium. And since most of the people who live around So Kon Po are probably Uncle Ray's dedicated late night listeners, they'll hardly complain if the revelry hits the upper reaches of the decibel marker.
