IT looks as if our Teutonic friends are getting in on the post-1997 action.
A television crew from Cologne working for WDR - one of the biggest stations in Germany - has been out and about gathering footage to be aired on a TV show called Traumziele (which roughly translates as 'Magic Destinations').
Producer and director Joachim Schroeder told us the 'anchorman' for the programme was businessman and veteran civic leader Gerry Fosgate.
Said Schroeder: 'What we are anxious to portray is the positive nature of Hong Kong's preparations for 1997 with no panic or hysteria.' Schroeder can rest assured on that score. For apart from Fosgate, the others being featured on the programme are Wharf tycoon Peter Woo and China Club mandarin David Tang - pillars of stability every one.
