Michael Kadoorie
HONG KONG and Shanghai Hotels chairman Michael Kadoorie was out of town on business and sent his regrets. But his wife, Betty, dazzled with her presence as always at the gala dinner held last night to mark the official re-opening of Gaddi's after its seven-month closure for renovations. On hand to serenade the diners between courses with some Mozart was the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of maestro David Atherton who, as it happens, is a regular patron of the acclaimed restaurant.
Seen in the picture with Betty are (from left) Peninsula GM Peter Borer, David Atherton and Gaddi's maitre'd Rolf Heiniger. Incidentally, Heiniger was quick to point out to Keeping Posted that he is not an Austrian emperor as we had implied the other day but a Swiss baron - and a horse riding one at that.
