MORE Crown land should be sold by sealed tender to stop developers forcing down prices, according to recommendations to be announced next week by a government-appointed taskforce.
The option is among a package of long-term measures aimed at tightening control on the selling price of land.
A review of the traditional government land auction system began after developers banded together at a sale in May to bid at lower-than-expected prices.
The move was widely regarded as a protest against government intervention in the property market. It had introduced measures to curb speculation in flats and cool runaway prices.
The three-member panel's interim report in July focused on regulating auction proceedings.
Its final report is expected to be released next week after formal approval by the Executive Council.
