Pedestrian sues over injuries

A GOVERNMENT lawyer's wife who was crushed against roadside railings by a van is suing for damages for personal injuries.

Elizabeth Ann Loftus, 45, who had an operation for cancer of the bladder a year before the accident, has filed a writ in the Supreme Court claiming driver Ng Kam-yung and van owner Yu Nin were negligent.

Mrs Loftus also claims the permanent damage she suffered will severely restrict her opportunities for gainful employment.

The writ states Mrs Loftus was standing beside railings in Bowen Road on March 17 when she was hit by the light-goods van. She was treated for a broken pelvis and shock. She remained in hospital for 17 days.

The writ claims the pelvis injuries aggravated damage caused by the cancer surgery.
