EARLIER this month, the Housing Authority, through our housing office, sent a notice to residents of Hing Wah Estate, Chai Wan, telling us that there would be a number of new, large vacant units in Yue Tung Estate, Shau Kei Wan, available for us to exchange for our existing premises, if these premises were too small.
Many residents were happy about this exchange plan, because our present accommodation is actually too small.
For instance, I know of a a six-person family which occupies premises 290 square feet in size.
This includes a kitchen and washroom.
That means, the family is packed together like sardines.
We live in public housing and cannot afford to buy our own property even though residents all want something larger and more comfortable.
