WHAT does the younger generation think about life? Primary and secondary school students were recently given food for thought in the Garden Life Bread Inter-school Calligraphy Contest and Slogan Contest, organised by the Garden Company Limited.
The theme of the contest was Adopting a Healthy and Positive Attitude Towards Life and the final stage of the contest took place last Saturday at the City Polytechnic.
Around 140 students from 40 primary and secondary schools participated in the calligraphy contest which was divided into three categories: junior primary, senior primary and high school.
Participants were asked to write the top three award-winning slogans, as chosen by the slogan contest judging panel in mid-October, in traditional Chinese brush-writing.
Fourth form student Chiang Ching-laam was judged the winner of high school group in the calligraphy contest.
The arts student from Pui Ching Middle School said: 'I did not encounter difficulties or feel nervous during the contest because I have taken part in six to seven public competitions of similar type this year.' Wong Kam-yan, winner of the junior primary group, said she took part in the contest not to win a prize but for fun.
