A COURT interpreter yesterday denied astonishing allegations made from the witness box that he was involved in a love triangle with a defendant and her husband, the main prosecution witness.

The District Court trial, in which a Thai woman denies wounding her husband with a chopper, was dramatically halted on Thursday when the husband made an outburst in the witness box.

The husband, Ng Fa-shing, 32, pointed a finger at the interpreter on duty in court and accused him of causing his family problems.

The interpreter, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had the duty of translating Mr Ng's remarks.

Mr Ng, a company manager, further alleged that he had seen the translator escorting his wife home on four occasions.

Deputy Judge Li immediately halted the trial and called the prosecution and defence lawyers into his chambers.
