PICO Far East Holdings, the only listed exhibition designer and fabricator in Hong Kong, saw globalisation as a way out for the business as early as it designed its logo 25 years ago in its Singapore debut.
The logo consists of a Chinese character 'bi' (pen), which is an essential tool in design, and a circle representing the Earth. It shows Pico founder, the Chia family's determination to develop a worldwide market.
'Exhibitors in most trade shows come from around the world, even if you just aim at projects in one country,' said vice-president Louis Cheng Teong-meng.
'Therefore, only through an international network, can the company expand its customer base and maintain the relationship with its clients.' Pico Group now has a network of 21 offices worldwide. Seven of which, mainly concentrated in the Asia-Pacific region, are directly under Hong Kong listed Pico Far East.
The group plans to merge its operations in Germany, Britain, the United States and Mexico with the Hong Kong listed branch.
Auditing of these subsidiary companies is now underway and will be completed by next year. A report will then be presented to the stock exchange pending approval.
It is expected that, if the integration succeeds, it will bring about an additional turnover of HK$100 million to HK$150 million to Pico Far East every year.
