The stock ended at a day's low of 14.1 cents, a decline of 5.4 per cent compared to its price before the suspension. - SING TAO CULTURECOM Holdings says that the comic book market in Hong Kong saw overall sales of $600 million last year. It expects to grow 17 per cent to $700 million this year. - EXPRESS NEWS HAGEMEYER, a Dutch-listed subsidiary of First Pacific, has formed a joint venture with Cosa HCL Ltd, a Swiss company. The new concern has combined Hagemeyer and Cosa HCL's marketing and sales operations in the Asia-Pacific region. Its headquarters will be in Hong Kong. - ECONOMIC JOURNAL SOURCES say the Golden Harvest group will only list its Hong Kong and Southeast Asian cinema operations on the Hong Kong stock exchange. These businesses made a profit of more than $60 million in the year to June 30, 1994. It is expected that Golden Harvest will raise more than $200 million through the listing and the stock will be listed on a price-earnings ratio of 10 or 11. - ECONOMIC TIMES HENDERSON Land is raising loans for the second time this year. The company is raising $1.8 billion, primarily as refinancing for a loan which the group raised in 1990, and which falls due in March next year. - ECONOMIC TIMES HONGKONG and China Gas says that beginning January 1 next year the monthly bills of users will be calculated on a new basis. The extra payment for the majority of households will be less than $10 per month. China Gas predicts that there will be no further increase in the basic gas charge in the 1995 financial year. - ECONOMIC JOURNAL HONGKONG Land has decided to lift the amount to be raised through a notes issue from $1.5 billion to $2 billion due to enthusiastic market demand. The loan will be used partly as general working capital and partly to extend the expiry of the company's debt. It will have a maturity of 10 years. - ECONOMIC TIMES HONGKONG Telecom, which is in the first stage of an experiment concerning its video-on-demand service, is planning to carry out the second stage of the experiment at the end of the year. However, it has to obtain approval from the Telecommunications Board. Meanwhile, the board is looking into whether the cost of decoders and circuits should be passed on to users of the service. It is reported that New World Development and Wharf Holdings have already signed letters of intent regarding such developments. The company says the properties will be completed by the end of 1996 as scheduled. - EXPRESS NEWS TAK Wing Investments chairman Chung Chun-keung says the company has received approval from mainland authorities for a commercial and residential property development project in Beijing. It is expected that construction will commence early next year, with investment estimated at $2 billion.
