Faster chip

INTEL has announced the fastest addition to its OverDrive processor family.

The IntelDX4 processor uses Intel's speed tripling technology to run at 75 MHz on a 25 MHz system board and 100 MHz on a 33 MHz motherboard.

The chip operates internally at 3.3 volts while being compatible with five-volt systems.

It includes a floating point unit and a 16 K on-chip cache.

The IntelDX4 is available in both 168 and 169 pin packages and is priced at US$549 for the 75 MHz version and $649 for the 100 MHz version.
