REAL estate companies have constructed 161.4 sq ft of flats, more than 300 km of highways and 88 bridges in Fujian province.

According to Xinhua (the New China News Agency), the property firms have improved about 1,000 hectares of old urban districts in the province.
The capital Fuzhou and the special economic zone of Xiamen now have wider streets, more flyovers and taller buildings.
At the same time, some rural areas are being urbanised and more rural households have moved into newly built flats.
Fujian has 20 cities with an urban population of more than three million, compared with six cities and 1.3 million urban dwellers before 1978, when reform and open policies were implemented in China.
