THE grotesque, funny and nightmarish roamed the grounds of the Hong Kong International School at South Bay last Saturday afternoon, two days before the Halloween festival.
It was an occasion when no excuses were needed to paint faces as wished or be as prankish as desired, with no fear of giving offence.
The carnival, organised by the Parents Faculty Organisation, is a yearly highlight for the school. It was very much a family party during which some parents even joined their children in masking up. It was also an excellent opportunity to take some memorable snapshots.
A variety of games were devised by the students and the proceeds went towards their class activities.
The carnival was preceded by a 'Pumpkin Patch' last week. Hundreds of pumpkins of all sizes and shapes were sponsored and shipped by the American container line Sea-Land from the United States for the children to carve into jack-o-lanterns sold at marked down prices.
