LEGISLATORS will have to state their position on the controversial Court of Final Appeal issue shortly before the bill is introduced to the council. Independent legislator Jimmy McGregor is to table a motion saying that Legco, having considered the views of the legal profession, urges the Government to set up the court as soon as possible. The debate is to take place on January 11, a week before the bill is scheduled to be tabled in the council. Mr McGregor said Hong Kong faced a stark choice of whether, before 1997, to have the court set up according to the Sino-British agreement, or have no court at all.
