A BUSINESSMAN and his mistress who killed a student with chloroform after enticing her to a hotel to make a pornographic video yesterday had their jail sentences substantially increased by the Court of Appeal.

The court agreed sentences of 81/2 years and seven years imprisonment imposed on Hon Leung-fong and Phoebe Wong Yim-ping respectively were manifestly inadequate and increased them to 15 and 12 years.

The application to review the sentences was lodged by the Crown after public outcry and criticism of the penalty.

Dick Luk Pak-luen, 55, father of the Baptist College computer student, Elaine Luk Yee-ling, 21, said after the review that the new sentences were fairer.

'They deserve the sentences. But I don't think they feel sorry, especially the woman [Wong] who laughed and chatted with the lawyer in the court.

'Of course they don't feel the pain for my daughter's death which is going to cast a shadow over the family forever,' Mr Luk said.
