A GROUP of secondary students had the opportunity to acquire first-hand information on the nature of work and the working conditions of the Marine Department during a recent visit.
The visit was part of the 'Visits to Work Places' programme organised by the Labour Department for senior secondary students to help them better plan their future careers.
More than 30 Forms Five to Seven students from the Christian Alliance Cheng Wing Gee College were briefed on the work and organisation of the Marine Department.
Marine inspectors provided the students with information on their work, the qualifications required, training opportunities and promotion prospects.
The students were taken on a guided tour to the Yau Ma Tei Public Cargo Working Area.
They saw how cargo was loaded and unloaded and how marine inspectors managed the area.
