LOCAL distance runners have a busy time today and tomorrow with two races in the New Territories.
Today's Nike Hong Kong Half Marathon which gets underway at 8 am near Plover Cove Reservoir has attracted over 500 runners who will contest a tough 21.1 kilometres course along Brides Pool Road.
On current form the race will almost certainly be a duel between top runners Roberto De Vido and Lee Kar-lun who dominated both the season's Hong Kong Amateur Athletic Association (HKAAA) cross country league races held last month.
Others in with a chance include Tsun Wan Athletic Club's much improved Li Kar-yin and Chan Wah-kwai along with Road Runners' Ng Fai-yeung and Watson's Macau-based Lee Hon-wah who competed in the Asian Games Marathon.
Lucy Ramwell, Gillian Castka and Yuko Gordon of Ladies Road Runners Club look to have the women's race well sewn up between themselves.
Another pack of nearly 500 runners will contest the second race in the the season's Sun Hung Kai Reservoir Series which will be held on a new 13 kilometres course at Hok Tau near the Sha Lo Tung Valley in the Pat Sin range tomorrow morning.
