HONG KONG'S hotels, world-famous for their opulence and important clientele, are also hotbeds of paid-for sex.

The vast majority of the dates involving the 1,509 names on Europea's list took place in hotels. And even a senior member of staff at one well-known establishment booked the services of a 'discreet lady' to pass his working hours.

At another hotel, the concierge acted as go-between to arrange a male escort for a bisexual guest. The guest later booked a female escort through Europea.

The agency insists first dates take place in hotels to ensure the escort's safety. It also takes the client's name, passport number, hotel and room number.

On most occasions, the escort calls the room from the hotel lobby to check the client is there and to make sure the booking is not a prank.

Europea's employment handbook says an escort should 'always dress well. A blazer is worn over her dress or blouse when she walks through a hotel lobby, no matter how hot and humid it is outside. She never wears slacks or jeans, even to a guest-house where she may look out of place all dressed up'.
