As in fashion, the cosmetics world has long looked to Chanel as a pioneer of runway beauty. And the man who holds the covetable position of the luxury brand's global creative director is Belgian make-up artist Peter Philips. Since joining in 2008, he has breathed fresh life into the brand by constantly breaking new ground. Who can forget last summer's temporary Chanel tattoos that Philips adorned his models with?

This season is just as unforgettable: 'Karl [Lagerfeld] showed me a sketch which set the tone. I decided that the models would have deep dark smoky eyes. I was inspired by the graphic design of the decor - a black and white French garden - to create a look of contrasts. A black that is not that black and a white that is not that white. Make-up with a play on lights and reflections.'

Lipstick junkies can look forward to two new additions to the Chanel Rouge Coco Shine family. This line of lipsticks has a sheer luminous finish, with an ultra-moisturising shimmer to boot.

Chanel's most anticipated release of the season is exclusive to Asia. Les Tourbillons D'Eclat de Chanel is the brand's first range of cosmetics designed specifically to complement its whitening range.
