The Swank's managing director, David Hong Kin-hay, was in dandy mode at Italian fashion house Brunello Cucinelli's spring-summer collection preview at Pacific Place's The Swank shop last week.

The fashion business guru mingled with VIP guests at the cocktail party, wearing an ensemble of denim shirt, suit jacket and a pair of nicely polished shoes with neon-green laces.

'I'd love to fit in those pants,' said Hong (pictured, far left), referring to the rolled-up khakis sported by Frank van Loon and Edoardo Simone, the Brunello Cucinelli representatives. Their style, van Loon said, is called 'the new formal'.

Van Loon (beside Hong) was impressed by Hong Kong street style. 'Hong Kong people really appreciate fashion. They are always very aware of the latest trends. It's such a metropolis and there's a big variety of styles.' Maybe it's time for our local hipsters to dig up their vintage, stone-washed denim.
