Who started it? Australian fashion designer Jamie Blakey started One Teaspoon from her home in Sydney, in 2000. Blakey, who has no formal training in fashion design, or business, launched the label with a 10-piece collection of predominantly reconstructed denim items. Today, One Teaspoon is stocked in more than 32 countries and the label has two dedicated stores in Australia with plans to open another. In 2007, Blakey collaborated with Australian sunglasses brand Le Specs.
Why we love it: One Teaspoon is a sexy, edgy take on urban and beach wear. Distinctly Australian, the brand captures the essence of the country's laid-back attitude.
'Sexy, rebellious, sex-infused, old-school rock'n'roll glamour,' is how Blakey describes the brand, adding, 'I really do design what I want to wear myself.'
For spring-summer, denim is once again at the heart of the collection, with the label's signature cut-off shorts presented in a range of colours, along with a variety of T-shirts, dresses and swimwear. The colour palette is basic - black, white, grey and denim tones dominate - which makes the pieces easy to integrate into any wardrobe.
What we'd pick: the short black dress (right; HK$1,599) is cheeky, with cutout side panels, and perfect for summer evenings. We're also fans of the Bonitas cut-off shorts (above right; HK$1,099), one of the label's signature styles.
Where can you get it? One Teaspoon is available at Little Black Dress, 61 Wellington Street, Central, tel: 2147 3218.
