When it comes to aesthetics and features, you won't find a more complete portable digital camera than the Nikon Coolpix S9100.
For starters, it has a lens the same colour as the rest of the body - not a big deal in the black and silver models, but incredibly striking in the red version, giving the camera a sense of continuity.
Then there is the completeness of Coolpix S9100's features and functionality.
Like many high-end point-and-shoots today, the S9100 offers high-resolution imaging (12.1 megapixels) and comes with a powerful processing engine (Nikon's Expeed C2 chip) that allows it to capture multiple images - in this case five full resolutions photos - in about a second, as well as high-definition video at 1080p.
In addition to the powerful core, the Coolpix S9100 also comes with an impressive exterior - an 18x optical zoom lens. In plain 35mm camera terms, that means a zoom that goes from 25mm to a whopping 450mm. To avoid blurred photos in extreme zoom, Nikon has also put in a five-way, hybrid VR image stabilisation system.
In addition to the hardware, the S9100 also comes with plenty of software features for better photos. For example, in night landscape mode, the S9100 captures several conservative images with different exposure levels before assembling the best parts of each shot intelligently into a single optimised photo.
