THE Government confirmed last night an investigation had been carried out into allegations Housing Department officers had been lodging false claims for overtime and had been absent without leave.

  It was understood up to 200 people had been investigated and would be either reprimanded or sacked this week.

  Secretary for Civil Service Michael Sze Cho-cheung gave his full support to the investigation.

  'We have to be tough and always will be. If one group gets away with it, other staff may think 'why shouldn't I?' ' Mr Sze said last night.

  'I will fully support the disciplining of staff.' 



Housing Department
