Hip and hot - 70s
Flower power and disco ... the 70s are often associated with psychedelic prints and vibrant, overwhelming patterns.  However, there is more to the 70s than over-the-top ensembles. With exciting and experimental trends for  all ages, women in the 70s were more adventurous with their fashion choices. And now it's back! Check out the Marc Jacobs and Tory Burch fashion shows  for their  70s-inspired clothing for the SS11 season. So why not create your own  retro-disco look?
Versatile maxi skirts and bell-bottom trousers are must-have  staples. Pair  with a loose baby-doll top or  a long, tangled necklace for a classic, feminine look; a graphic tank and chunks of accessories for stylish street fashion; or throw on a chunky, knit sweater and oversized sunglasses for an iconic  statement, screaming youth and attitude. Whichever trend you choose, remember the 70s were a casual time for fashion, so keep the prints simple and chic.  
Steal some tips from celebrities like Olivia Palermo  and Erin Wasson,   and you'll nail it. If you are not sure about wearing maxi skirts and still want to stick to the trend, mini-skirts and shorts are also great choices as they were popular in the 70s, too. Remember to experiment and channel Jerry Hall, girls!

Bunkaya Zakkaten
 Spotted by Joyee Chan
 Vintage lovers in Harajuku, Japan call Bunkaya Zakkaten their second home. This humble-looking store  opened in  Yau Ma Tei two years ago.  Bunkaya is  packed to the ceiling with old-fashioned accessories, from lacey blouses to leather handbags, all flown in from Japan. Shoppers may  need some time  to sift through the items.

The Interview
 Fashion designer Kanchan Panjabi from Kanchan Couture (kanchancouture.com)  
 I am ... a dreamer. I like to visualise how I see my life turning out. I love reading stacks of books and memoirs. I love coming up with new ideas and concepts, and to do that, you need to take in all that is around you through books, films, art etc. 
 I smell like ... jasmine. It has such a sweet freshness, and the scent calms me. It reminds me of flowers in Indian temples. 
 My wardrobe palette is ... an  exciting mix of colours. I like to mix primary colours together in one outfit. I like to wear red, blue and yellow - I think I'm pretty lucky to be able to wear yellow since not many people can pull it off. I  love fuchsia.  I sometimes add black to my outfits because it's a good building block  for adding on bright colours.
 I am wearing ... a brown shirt I found at a flea market in the US, a blue shirt from Cotton On, red jeans from Gap, heart-shaped earrings from the new 'Kanch' jewellery collection and Converse sneakers with laces from an old pair of Reeboks.
 The story behind ... my necklace. The little golden box was given to me by my mother, who  received  it from her mother, so it's very meaningful to me. It has a prayer locked inside it that is supposed to keep the bearer safe and free  from evil. Also attached to it is a tiny blue Buddha  that I found in a Thai street market.  
 I shop at ... H&M, Club Monaco and Cotton On, and the  Rise Commercial Building off Granville Road in TST, which has local  designers' shops. I love browsing in flea markets, particularly  on trips to the US and  Britain. 
 Designers I look up to ... the Prada couple because of their great mix of creativity and business acumen; Jill Sander because  all her clothes are always beautifully constructed; and Alber Elbaz (Lanvin) because of the way he designs each collection so wonderfully.
