Allison Dedianko could probably have found a job at the UN - she has a degree in European studies, and speaks Spanish, Italian, Russian and English. But the New Yorker stumbled upon the trade of mixology and won Belvedere Vodka's Bartender's Dream Job competition last year, leading to a globetrotting 12 months as the brand's ambassador. Dedianko is in town for cocktail workshops and parties. She was at Azure bar last night and will be taking over the bar tonight at Likuid club and Spanish restaurant Fofo. 'The biggest change is obviously the travelling. I'm now based in London and travelling most of the time,' Dedianko said, after just flying in from Mumbai. Her passion for mixology was ignited while she worked as a part-time cocktail waitress seven years ago. 'I was interested to know what was in the cocktails and had that itch to create my own,' she said. So how about a glassful of Hong Kong? That, it seems, is still under consideration. 'It's best to use fruit and spices that are native to the region,' she said. 'I have only seen a small part of Hong Kong so far, but I already feel it's such a vibrant city.'
