If your mum is looking glum and you've just worked out why, you may be interested to know that The French Window restaurant and crystal specialist Lalique are jointly presenting the Art Sensational Dinner - a food-meets-art experience.

Both establishments are in Central's IFC Mall and the restaurant is offering, until May 31 (two days after the French celebrate Mother's Day, incidentally), a six-course menu, with ingredients from Provence chosen by master chef Stephane Haissant, following the theme of 'Le French GourMay'.

On display is one of Lalique's 83 life-size replicas of the Winged Victory of Samothrace, based on the 190BC sculpture of the same name. This blue-crystal version (below right) was inspired by the work of French artist Yves Klein (1928-1962).

'The French Window is one of Le French May's featured restaurants,' says Connie Kwok, of the Miramar Group. 'To make Mother's Day special, we have collaborated with Lalique.'

The brand's latest collection, including vases, will also adorn the restaurant.

The menu includes dishes such as seared marinated langoustine flavoured with morel mushroom in puff pastry, Landes foie gras with savoy cabbage wrapped in paper and coffee biscuit and star anise light meringue (below left) - a dessert inspired by the Winged Victory of Samothrace; the meringue is decorated with a pair of wings symbolising a mother's unconditional love.
