Josh Wink's 1995 rave anthems Higher State of Consciousness and Don't Laugh allowed the Philadelphia-born producer/DJ to launch a career that has now spanned almost two decades.

But rather than trying to reimagine his past triumphs, Wink has chosen to forge his own path with a spattering of underground hits and a solid work ethic.

He started out as an underage kid trawling the clubs in the late 1980s just as electronic dance music was at its peak.

After turning to production, he earned global fame with the acid-house monster Higher State of Consciousness, but then turned his hand to almost every other genre from house and breakbeat to techno and minimal, weaving in and out of every trend.

In doing so, Wink earned moderate notoriety but also endless respect.
