MUCH may have been said already about ATV's advertising campaign, the one that is beyond any description. As a German born after the war I have been thinking about my country's history a lot, and I also feel somewhat responsible for the crimes my people committed before I was born. Like many other Germans I have tried to digest this history and to live a different heritage. An advertisement like that and the publishing of it only contribute to perpetuating dictatorships, fascism, crimes on innocent people, mass murder and more. The challenge today is to use human wisdom to sustain life of and on earth. I wish the advertising community in Hong Kong would become aware of their powers and use them more wisely. At home, ATV is off the television screen and I think I will not renew my subscription to the South China Morning Post either. PHILINE BRACHT New Territories
