Globe-trotting Carsac group boss Judy Yu Chu-dic isn't scared of a bit of radiation. Well, not so much that she'd give up her wagyu beef shabu-shabu. At the cocktail party on Friday to launch a collaboration between LeSportsac and Los Angeles streetwear brand Joyrich Yu talked excitedly about the practical, stylish purses and was equally enthusiastic about her recent business trip to Osaka.

'The local people were calm about the situation, so why should I panic?' Yu said, when asked if she was concerned about radiation leaking from the crippled Fukushima nuclear power plant.

She even shared photos taken on her phone during her trip to Japan, including shots of empty bowls of pork soup ramen, wagyu beef and even beef ravioli she'd savoured at an Italian restaurant in Osaka.

Despite all the talk of food, Yu did her bit to plug the new line of purses. She'd attended to all the details for the event herself, she said, from the pink-and-white dress code for all LeSportsac staff to the fruit gummy candies at the reception desk she'd brought from Milan.

Several models sporting the new purses walked around the shop in The Landmark to showcase the goods. Guests even went home with a heart-shaped chain bag from the collection.
