IT didn't need Dr Doolittle to interpret Tell Me Win's message during his trackwork session at Sha Tin yesterday.
The Lam Hung-fie-trained equitrack specialist, due to run in the second event on the Happy Valley dirt tomorrow night, was saying to all and sundry: 'I'm ready to run a big race.' The five-year-old has had two runs back this season, showing plenty of dash on each occasion and should now be spot on to perform right up to the kind of form which last term saw him record his one and only victory on the equitrack.
He made all the running that night for a facile four-length success over Forever Ahead over the same 1,400-metre distance that he tackles this time round.
Yesterday he looked on very good terms with himself as he came through a comfortable 1,200-metre hitout under local rider K. H. 'Little' Hung in one minute 21.5 with a particularly pleasing last quarter in 23.4 seconds where he really answered every one of Hung's requests.
The Derek Cruz-trained Golden Rule also appeared to work well for this second event yesterday and the word appeared is used advisedly.
Of course, he could do something as he's well handicapped these days but he's been a good worker all his life.
