Kingdee International Software Group launched its signature Kingdee KIS International software in Hong Kong yesterday, hoping to eat into the market of international giants SAP and Oracle.

The Hong Kong-listed provider of enterprise resource planning (ERP) software said it was looking beyond the mainland, the main market for the software, and overseas markets would be a driver in the future.

Enterprise resource planning integrates different management information in an organisation and automates this activity with an integrated software application to facilitate the flow of information between all business functions.

Launched on the mainland in 1993, when Kingdee was established, KIS now has 600,000 corporate clients on the mainland. This signature product of Kingdee, designed for small- and medium-sized enterprises with a focus on accounting and supply chain management, had been a success because of its efficiency and competitive price compared with its foreign rivals, according to Karen Ji, the firm's assistant president.

'In China we are increasingly competing with international players in the high end of the market and winning over more clients,' Ji said.

The international version of KIS, which is in English, is designed to strengthen Kingdee's presence in Southeast Asia, Asia-Pacific and other global markets.
