Hong Kong Chinese Women's Club College
The Parent-Teacher Association at the Hong Kong Chinese Women's Club College  has  helped parents, teachers and students since it was established in 1994. 
 The PTA's annual general meeting and the inauguration ceremony of its 18th executive committee were held on May 21. Yeung Kin-wai, the head of service for youth of the Hong Kong Family Welfare Society, was our guest-of-honour. 
The ceremony began with a heart-warming speech from our school principal, Wong Ming Hau. 
The annual report and the financial report of the PTA's 17th executive committee were then presented, followed by the prize-giving ceremony. 
In recognition of the  Secondary Two students'  excellent performance in the 'V2' voluntary services, prizes were presented to the top achievers. 
An inspiring speech was given by Yeung on the topic of home-school co-operation. He highlighted the importance of parents reaching a consensus on how parenting should be done. He said if parents had different objectives, conflicts might result. 
The new committee members took their oath of office, and the chairman, Chan Ka-hong, gave a speech and presented a souvenir to the guest-of-honour.
The climax of the day was the variety show. The Chinese folk dance performed by the dance group of our school was a prelude to various programmes and drew a big round of applause. 
Instrumental performances and solo  poetry recitals showcased our students' talents, while the school's string musicians and band performed wonderful pieces of music that impressed the audience. The PTA parents' choir also sang two songs, which brought the show to a delightful  close. 
As the day ended, all those present had smiles on their faces. The 18th annual general meeting was undoubtedly a great start to another year's work by the PTA. 
Lee Yuen-ting
New Territories Heung Yee Kuk Tai Po District Secondary School
The New Territories Heung Yee Kuk Tai Po District Secondary School is  celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. To mark the occasion, the school held an art exhibition called 30 Years of Art from the Heart.
The exhibition displayed pieces of artwork by current students, graduates, parents and teachers. The art included paintings, fashion design, photography, sculpture, ceramics, batik and calligraphy.
The show ran from May 23-26 at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Exhibition Gallery, and was opened by artist Rosanna Li Wei-han.
At the opening ceremony, the school's headmaster Lee Chi-sam said it was a dream to see students' achievements displayed outside of Tai Po, and he wanted to make this dream come true.
Lee encouraged students to continue to develop their artistic skills and  showcase their talents.
Students and parents saw for themselves that the artworks on display were a 'shining star' not only in Tai Po, but in other parts of Hong Kong as well. 
The exhibition proved that dreams can indeed come true.
Shau Kei Wan East Government Secondary School
The school's English Society is delighted with its new English Room. It's a quiet, peaceful place - except when students get carried away arguing about books or hold a party. There is also space for more activities.
The new room has freshly painted walls,  and is  packed with posters on literature and language. The floor is a warm reddish brown. When the curtains are pulled back, lots of natural light stream in; when they are drawn, we can watch movies. 
There is space for well-stocked bookshelves and new computers. This helps us learn English in a relaxed atmosphere through the web.  
The space also allows us to invite other groups of students. We have started lunchtime and after-school activities to help students develop confidence in speaking English. 
We thank the school and management for providing such a wonderful venue for studying English. We will strive to make good use of the resources to learn well.
