TVB head facing fraud charges

TVB general manager Stephen Chan Chi-wan and his two co-defendants denied all five charges of bribery and fraud in the District Court yesterday.

Chan is accused jointly with his former assistant Tseng Pei-pun of defrauding TVB and five female artists of HK$300,000 at a book-signing event.

According to another charge, Tseng and the head of business development for TVB's marketing and sales division Wilson Chan Wing-shuen defrauded TVB of HK$550,000.

Several TVB actresses are expected to testify as witnesses in court, including Tavia Yeung Yi, Sharon Chan man-chi and Skye Chan Sin-yeung.

Stephen Chan, 51, is a showbiz insider and popular television host. He joined TVB in 1994 and became its general manager in 2004.
