Cellulite is the bane of most women, rich and thin included. Waxing specialist Nude has the latest non-surgical weapon to tackle it - the VelaSmooth Pro.
It uses vacuum suction, mechanical rollers, infrared light and bipolar radiofrequency energy. The heat is said to increase the metabolism and shrink fat cells, while the rollers and suction increase local circulation and knead the skin smooth.
The treatment feels like somebody with warm hands gently pinching your bottom and thighs. There's a warming sensation, but when the heat reaches the verge of discomfort, a thermostat kicks in to cool it down.
The therapist explains that while you're likely to notice a reduction around the area treated - hips, buttocks and thighs, or waist and stomach - it's not a weight-loss device. You should walk around for 30 minutes after treatment, and not eat or drink for an hour, as your lymph nodes have been 'opened up'.
The pros? Immediate results impress. If you feel one thigh after a 20-minute treatment, you'll find it distinctly smoother than your untreated thigh.
The cons? Long-term results aren't guaranteed, and a package of 10 20-minute sessions costs HK$10,000, while 20 sessions are HK$17,600.
